Need help ...alternator plug
1st time on here... need help troubleshooting i guess... alternator went out. Had it tested it was bad.... put a new one in...lights on dash still on along with brake and door lights. The battery tested good... the plug looks a little wore wiggled around on it and all the lights went off drove it for the night. Next morning all lights were back on. Unplugged it again and started the car all lights were off but when I plugged the alternator back in all the lights came back on. Could this be something electrical. Also one of the plugs in the fuse box when I unplugged had brown gooey looking stuff all over and in it. I believe these wires are for the ignition starter and all that.
This isn't an "internal" engine problem, so I'll move it to General Tech. More people will see it & try to help over there.
But it's hard to help without knowing what kind of car?
Year? Country? (yes we are mostly in USA, but we do have members from UK, Europe, Asia, and other places)
Accord DX, LX, EX, whatever. (2-door or 4-door)
What engine? What transmission?
Can you duplicate the problem by just grabbing the wires at the alternator plug & moving them around?

Can you give us some more background. What lights were turning on before you replaced the alternator? Was any work done on the car before you had the original issue?
Have you tried to test the voltage on the battery when the engine is not running? Also test the voltage when the engine is running.
Where did you get the replacement alternator, new or rebuilt, and what brand?
Which plug in the fuse box had a gooey substance Also which fuse box?
