Default Need help id 96 accord

Hey guys, I need some help id'ing and figuring out where this part goes.

My son rear ended a guy and I've been working on fixing everything. When taking off the bumper cover and bumper I found this laying on the bottom of the cover. For the life of me I can not figure out where it goes. I have a shop manual or two and can not find it in any of the diagrams.
I have the car back together less this piece, just need to fill the radiator and am waiting for the new air cleaner box to come in then off we should be going. This is the only piece I have left and don't really want to leave it out.
Thanks
Rick

looks like some kind of reinforment bar for the bumper.

I have taken the bumper cover off my 97 a couple of times and have never seen that before.

No way that is from a honda. That isn't even the way they stamp parts or a tubing they would use. Perhaps it was for a tow hitch?

Here is a parts blowup of a 96 2-door. Maybe this is #11?

Thanks for the replys guys.
I know for sure that its not from the other vehical. He hit a F350's hitch
Basically no damage to the truck, it was all on his hood, headlights, grill, rad support, air cleaner box .....

I think #11 is it in that diagram, even though its a 4 door. I'm gonna tear off the bumber cover and see if I can figure it out, now that I have a reference.
Thanks again!

Put in your car's information; that's where that drawing comes from. That way you can put in the right number of doors just in case something's different.

yeah, that definitely looks like it.
I can't believe it.
What could its purpose be?

I don't know for sure what THAT thing does, but some of the funny brackets are there to control exactly how the front end crushes in a collision. (Helps to get better crash-safety results.) Sometimes it's really not easy to visualize how it helps.
