Question Need help running power cord through dash?

Hey, all. Just bought a radar detector finally for my 2000 Accord LX sedan, but I hate the cord that just sits there on my dash and dangles in the passenger's footwell. I was thinking about running the power cable from my 12V outlet, up through the dash, and out somewhere (hopefully) near the air ducts, but I want to know exactly where I can run this cable if possible, so I don't end up destroying any hoses or other equipment behind the dash. All I'm armed with right now is (what used to be) a wire hanger and a drill if I need it, but would like to avoid making anymore holes. Take a look at the horribly edited photos for clarification on what I'd like done.

I also know about hardwiring it into my fusebox, but I want to refrain from doing that if I can.

Thanks for any input!

*EDIT* The red lines are where I'd prefer to run the power cord. Thanks!

That would definitely make things easier, but I'd rather not cut the wire, as I may want it in tact later. I like the idea, though. Thanks for the link.

I have the same vehicle. I installed an amp and found this advice on running the power cord thru the firewall. Just make sure you use an in-line fuse so that you do not fry your radar detector.

If you crawl under the driver's side of your dashboard, and look by the gas pedal drive-by-wire assembly box (where the throttle cable assembly would have been), look just to the left of it. You will find a rubber gromet and a pre-drilled hole in the firewall. Push the gromet out into the engine bay (it should fall right to the ground as there is nothing directly under it) and you can run your power wire through there. I took the gromet and cut a hole large enough for 4 gauge to fit, and reused it when I ran my wire. Then I used some silicone sealant to make a nice tight seal.

From the engine bay, you will find it if you look to the left of the brake master cylinder.

Found a 10 foot cable, supposedly OEM from Cobra, that has an inline fuse and will attach the radar detector up in front of my rear view mirror. Thanks for all of the suggestions!
