Default New member here! 2000 accord SE!

Hey guys, i just bought a 2000 honda accord SE, 4cyl auto. Its got 235,xxx miles, and runs and drives like brand new. I picked it up for 700 bones, not too bad IMO.

The guy maintained this thing like no bodys buisness, he just got a new heater, ac, and blower.

The bad, the exhaust heat shiel rattles, and the rear passenger door wont lock with the button.

Im not looking to mod this thing, just looking to maintain and take care of it as well as i can.

What should i do to it, change oil, change transmission oil and filter, change the air filter, change the plugs, does this thing have coil packs or a distrubotr?

Anything else you guys think i should do to it?

Thanks,

Chris

Welcome. Great buy. I got my 93 w/ 162000 3 yrs ago for 500.
Not all my locks work w/ the button, I just lock the ones that dont work themselves manually (IMO not worth spending $$ on when there better stuff too).
The heat shield which 1? I would just take it off.
If he maintained it which by mileage I would say he did very well, I would ask him if he kept a record or reciepts. Or ask him if he know when he did the thing u were thinkin of.
Air filter just do an inspection to tell if it needs replacement.
Pull the plugs to see if they are black or have white residue on them. Its a cheap item anyways if ur not sure.
I dont know if it a dist or coilpack.
Oil is a cheap maintance if the oil is really black do it.
There is not filter on the tranny so its drain and refill. Can do once and drive 500 miles and do again to drain out more old fluid. Dont do a flush, Honda doesnt reccomend it.

I think that the 2000 had a distributor. Check where the plug wires end up at.

I replaced my heat shield, because that was placed there for a reason by the honda engineers.

The door locks could be from the door lock actuator. Take a look at the post below, because I just made some comments on a similar situation.
