I recently had a new power steering pump installed on my 2003 V6 Accord w/295k and 500 miles later I am still getting the growl like there is still air in the system. My mechanic said it would happen but that the noise would disapate over time . Is it time to take it back and ask what's up? I try not to mess with the Accord myself and have always relied on professionals.

I would take it back. Any air trapped in the system should have worked its way out.

Ask your mechanic if he replaced the o-rings on the PS lines going to the pump. This is a known problem on the 03-07 accords. They don't seal well and allow air into the system.

 

The O-ring on the pump inlet joint is famous for leaking air into the pump. My guess is you didn't need a pump in the first place.
