Default Newbie question about serpentine belt replacement

Hi everyone
I'm new to the forum. I used the forum search feature and also googled the site but I can't seem to find a consistent answer.

I have to replace the serpentine belt on an 03 Accord 4 cyl. I'm inclined to think all I need to do is put a wrench on the tensioner and decrease the tension to slip the old one off, then reverse procedure for the new one. I saw a thread to this effect.

In another thread, I read that there is no belt tensioner????
I also read in another thread that you have to slack off the belt by loosening the alternator like on older cars.

So just to confirm, is the first approach correct (slack-off tension by wrenching the tensioner)?

Otherwise, there's no room at all in there. I'm looking at it thinking that top passenger-side engine mount would have to come off!

many thanks in advance.

Yes, for a 2003 4-cyl you put a wrench on the bolt in the center of the tensioner. Pull the wrench towards the front of the car (as if you're tightening that bolt). That'll pivot the tensioner & loosen the belt.

Either draw a sketch or find a picture in the owner's book for the exact way the belt goes around all the pulleys. There isn't much room for your hands between the pulleys & the fender. I think I found it helped to remove the bracket for the steering-fluid-reservoir.
