Default no crank no start + other issue

96 2.2 4 cyl coupe was running great except battery died and I replaced with a brand new one.
After a few days, starter does not crank at all.
Headlights work throughout no dimming.
Key in pos I - charger/battery light on dash - nothing else
Key in position II - no power windows work, no sun roof, no clock, no dash lights except charger/battery light. Blower fan works, and radio.
Key in position III - hear 1 click and charger/battery light goes out, blower fan, radio goes off. Headlights on throughout.
I jumped from positive on battery and to the ignition switch wire on the solenoid and it starts right up.
Can't get car out of gear without using the lock switch.
When car is running, still no windows/ sun roof, clock, dash lights.
Good continuity from ignition switch to fuse box in all positions.
Voltage from small wire to solenoid shows nothing, but if the car starts from the battery, wouldn't the starter/solenoid be ok?

Did you check all the fuses under the hood and inside the car? Starter fuse is a 7.5 amp I think, could be a 5.

Also, check that the starter cable is tight on the fuse/distribution box under hood. Could have been loosened accidentally during battery change.

As stated, you have a voltage issue-Please re-check fuses. Does this car have and aftermarket alam system on it?

Cool

All fuses fine and battery cables, related wires good. Bought this car used, but no after market alarm. Must be factory system. My buddy and I hear what sounds like a elec shorting, buzzing sound feom under hood when key immed gets turned to Pos II. Sound goes away after a split second.

Do you have a volt meter to do more testing.

Me, the easy place to start would be the clock circuit.....are you willing to start there?

i jumped it today and drove around for 15 mins or so and now notice the tach and speedometer non operational dash is pretty much unlit at all - no gear indicator. I push the button under the clock and it lights up - I release it and it goes out again.

Is the clock keeping time?

Are the brake lights working?

Also, got my gens confused, the clock doesn't come out that easy......but the window switch does .

Pull the window switch and turn the key to on. The BLU/BLK and GRN/WHT should have 12v to ground. Do they?

Default My bad...still no change

I am so sorry - this is a 1997 2 dr coupe not a 1996.
I just bought it a few months ago and was told it was a '96. Duh.

More to the story-
My brother who had it while I was out of town before these issues started says-
The rear trunk indicator light on the dash would be inconsistently off and on. There was an issue with the trunk light stayin lit even while it was closed. So he pulled the bulb. When he did the bulb broke before coming out and he pried the remaining pcs out, did not replace it. Also he says the trunk wouldnt close very well "after more than a few slams", he had to bend the latch on the trunk door toward the car to get it to "catch". Issue as now explained, developed immediately.
I looked yesterday, and it is clean and free of debris.

So,
poorman-
Clock does keep time, but only displays when depressed.
The window switch is obviously inside the door panel and doesn't seem easy to get to other than pulling??
The brake lights do come on.
