no headlights?

My Maintenance req'd light came on on my 2005 Accord LX 4-cyl.
Without knowing or thinking too much about it, i decided I would reset the light and see what happens. Somewhere on the internet, it said to
hold the trip odometer reset button in, then turn the key to ON and keep holding the button 10 -15 seconds.
This seems to have reset the light.
(as i see now, it's not a good idea on a newer model to just reset the light?
http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/faq_ii.html#reset but anyway... )
That was last night, now today my wife reports that the headlights aren't functioning, but the blinkers and parking lights are fine. She also complained that the dash was dim but that is probably just because i rotated the trip odom **** (it is also the dash light dimmer).
Anyway, is there some reason monkeying with the trip odometer reset button would have any effect on the headlights???

Not related. You reset the maintenance reminder, NOT THE SAME as the ECU(check-engine light) they talk about in that link.
Besides, evenresetting the ECU should not be related to the headlights anyway.
