Default no power in second?

I have a 99 accord v6, at wot it pulls hard all through first and pulls hard in second until about 4000 rpm and then it seems like I let off of the throttle but it still builds rpms, then when it shifts to 3rd it puts you back in your seat. There is no check engine light and it's not got a misfire. I recently cleaned the throttle body, cleaned the idle air control valve, cleaned the egr valve and ports and changed the oil. The problem is it makes it hard for me to pass and accelerate into traffic so I need to figure this out. Thanks in advance to any replies.

From your description, the problem appears to be poor selection by honda for 3rd gear ratio.

However, shop manual suggests for "low power" to 1) check fuel pressure 2) inspect and test throttle body (done?), and 3) inspect/adjust throttle cable.

A download factory service manual will be helpful if you intend to DIY. Check automanualsource.com for aa $22 download.

good luck

No its second, everything is adjusted right, what I'm saying is at 4000 rpms in second gear it feels like I let out of the throttle, but it still builds revs but will hardly accelerate, and after a hard shift into 3rd it pulls fine. Tranny don't slip and the fluid was changed 20000 miles ago and is still pink and smells fine.

Typical bad transmission issues with your generation. I am certain that if you search this site you will find a thread on it. The only other option, although unlikely, is the screen on the shifting solenoid screen is plugged. I have replaced many of these transmissions with rebuilt ones with the scenario you describe. Good luck.

I have looked around and couldn't find anything. It seems like vtec engages and then disengaged because the engine changes a little bit when it happens. I just took it for a drive and noticed that in the higher rpms of second, it acts like it's not warmed up. And I know it was at operating temp.
