i have a 96 lx 4 door, and the dang thing wont go into reverse. it is a standard and all the other gears are responding normally, but when i try to shift to reverse the shifter wont go. it feels like something is blocking the shifter. i dont know if this is a shift linkage problem or a full blown tranny problem. can anyone help me try and figure this thing out.

 

If ALL the other gears are performing as they should I would look for a linkage problem.

 

if you dont have a problem with second gear as well(because second and reverse are linked together i belive) than its probally a problem with your linkage as rtexasf said.. good luck!
