Octane rating

Jim,

If I am not mistaken the Mercedes set the rev limiter to 6K and also showed a significant drop in output.....I believe that the Dodge ram did slightly better with higher octane fuel as well...

Don't get me wrong, I think the j30a is a pretty potent engine but ONLY when you are above 4K anything below that and it is quite lathargic...(LACK OF LOW END TORQUE)

ahhaha luckily the CL and CL type S do not suffer from lack of low end grunt (they are slightly larger displacement and also have larger valves)

read your owner's manual. Use the octane that is reccomended, period. if you have a 4 cylinder you will almost always use regular octane (87). using higher will cause injectors to clog up, as all the fuel won't burn. generally only V6 and higher will ever use 89 or higher octane.
