yea fram was a really good filter and then it was bought out by allied? i think that was the name and then it went downhill a little. still a good filter, but as i understand it.....supertech is actually better. i think the honda filters are only a little more anyway.

i would reccomend to do an oil change every 3000 miles , i would use regular oil 10w-30 if your winter climate is mild,, 5w-20 if cold winters,, . As for syntetic oil,, i rather do 2 oil changes in 6000 miles than 1 oil change in 5000 + miles,, which do you think will be cleaner???
I have used regular oil in all my customer cars and a few of them have over 400,000 miles on them and never smoke or use oil ...and when i remove the valve cover to do a valve adjustment , inside it looks golden,, ( very clean) .. Now if you have the money and want to use syntetic oil but still change it every 3000 miles, then ,that's even better,,

P/s stay away from Penzoil..

Your car calls for 5W20, use it. The Supertech brand of filters at Wal Mart is actually a pretty good filter for little money. Over the years Fram has dropped to the bottom of the chart as far as overall quality, you can do better. I use and recommend Honda filters made by Filtech. Some Honda filters are made by Fram which I prefer not to use.

The 3000 mile oil change myth is just that, a myth. With modern engines and oils you can easily go 5000 miles. I prefer Mobil1 synthetic and change around 8000 or so.
If you want to learn go to http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/...=0;DaysPrune=0 . You can read for months on there! I believe I am member #415 or so.

If you don't want to endure the expense of a synthetic oil you can use 5W20 Havoline or 5W20 Motorcraft (synthetic blend) with total confidence, they are superb. By the way, either of these will go 5000-6000 miles. Change the filter every time not every other time as prescribed..

I hope this helps.

Some believe:

The most important oil change is the first one.

Usually at 500/600 miles and again at 1500/1600 miles.

Reason: Most internal metal engine parts are not conditioned, (broken in), and a considerable volumn of fine metal particles are produced in the first few hundred miles of operation. The filter catches much of this contamination but, a lot is circulating through the engine.

Sound foolish?

Either hold the pan of drained oil to a bright light and observe the glitter and/or cut the filter open. If yours has a drain plug magnet - check it!

Believe it or not.
