Default ok still having egr problems

OK, still getting the same code for insufficiant egr lift , p1491 i think it was, went to autozone today, a guy found a vaccum line off of where it should be, it was the vaccum line from the egr valve control , ( the thing right next to the egr solenoid ) anyways so we hooked it back up at the throttle body, started the car, it ran like crap, then when i tried to drive it , it died, pull the vaccum line back off and it runs fine, but it back on, and it dies, what could that be wrong, that would make the car die when the vaccum is hooked up like it should be, but run fine when it is removed???

Are the vacuum hoses routed properly? http://www.dhost.info/accordinfo/ has a shop manual for a 94 split into sections. This will save you a bunch of time troubleshooting.

EGR testing procedure is in the fuel pdf. Vacuum connections are in that section too. 11-115 and 11-8 respectively.

yes are vaccum lines are routed accordingly, i just ran a vaccum test, got a steady 20 pounds sqaure inch with the line removed, connected the line, vaccum dropped to around 13-15 psi, attached is a diagram , the blue line is the hose that is disconnected on my car

Where are you testing the vacuum? That line uses vacuum from the intake to control the EGR valve (through line 16) via the vacuum control valve and the solenoid.

You should start the test by pulling off line 16 at the egr valve and test there. Just go through that procedure in that shop manual and it should help pinpoint the problem.

i am testing it behind the intake where that line that is disconnected, there is a vaccum plug behind there that has a rubber plug on it, so i just pulled off the little plug and pulled vaccum from there

ok, i just double checked everything and the vaccum lines were crossed, i only had this car a month and a half, so it was done before me, but anyways , line 16 and 24 were crossed with 24 jummping to the egr valve and 16 going to the throttle body, i have reset the check engine light, and will wait and see if it throws a code again, also doing this dropped my engine idle from around 900rpms to about 700-750 rpms

well it's been a week , and no more check engine light, all is well, car is running great, i did have a missing sound in the engine, it ended up being a blown valve cover gasket which was letting oil foul out the plugs, changed that and all is well
