p0112 IAT low input problem
I have a 1998 LX (2.3L, 4 cyl) - water pump failed, engine overheated and I had to replace the motor. I found another '98 motor and dropped it in and am now getting the P0112 code. When testing the wires/connections, I too was getting 12 volts at the IAT sensor. Sense the ECU worked fine before swapped out the motors, I can't imagine that being the case. I also tried swapping the sensor from the old engine with the new one, but to no avail.
Not sure if I'm remembering this correctly, but maybe the IAT sensor has the same plug as another sensor (TPS??) and after swapping engines it's possible to get those wires plugged in the wrong sensors.
Well, I'm just about certain I did not swap the two (as they are on opposite sides of the manifold, and the wires just wouldn't reach). But, if two wires were swapped, wouldn't I be getting two codes? I've checked the grounds and the sensor. I'm planning on checking the continuity of the wire from the ECU - make sure there are no breaks, but that's just a last ditch as, if it were a break in the wire, I'd be getting 0V, not 12V. I'm still at a loss.
You'd suggested that the IAT and another sensor share the same type of plug and that perhaps I'd plugged the wires into the wrong sensor. What I was saying was that if I plugged the TPS sensor plug into the IAT and the IAT plug into the TPS, would I not be getting both an IAT and TSP code?
I remember reading posts where and error was generated for one of the sensors, but the other one was somehow close enough to normal range so it didn't generate an error. Again, your best bet is search for those threads about swapped sensor wires, so my vague memory doesn't confuse the problem.
Me spliiting hairs...the OP was a 5th gen and you (jesse) have a 6th gen....so not the same.
What color are the two wires that are plugged into the IAT?
On this gen...the PSP (power steering pressure) is the same connector and close to where the IAT is.....and the PSP will not trip a code

Glad you got it.....even though I wasn't very clear on which switch...my bad
I made an edit to my post so the next one that seraches will see it.
Again glad you have it going again and it was something simple. AND A BIG THANKS for coming back with the answer....as you noted before, too many times we never know the end result.
