The intake manifold has the upper gasket that would seal that open chamber he cleans outside of the car that has the throttle body attached. There is no gasket for the holes to each cylinder on the top part of the intake. Each hole draws air through the throttle plate on each intake stroke of the piston. That is why only the outside needs sealed.

If you removed the lower part of the intake manifold where it bolts to the cylinder head, then your lower gasket would have seals for each hole to the engine block.

I pulled the upper intake on my TSX to access my starter. I reused my gasket as it was a metal gasket, because I needed to quickly replace my starter on my TSX.

A new gasket is a good idea. I wouldn't pull the lower part of the intake from the cylinder head unless absolutely necessary.

You can check out hondapartsnow.com to see OEM parts diagrams so you are confident you aren't missing a gasket or any part.

OK, now I see how it is. I plan to order the hoses. Might as well replace them since they are probably the original hoses.

Thanks again!

BOY those hoses are expensive if I order on-line!!

Can I simply get the generic hoses from Autozone or O'Rielys?

Look at each hose & how it's formed. Some are curved tightly so normal hose would kink in that spot. And/or hose that has one end larger than the other. So maybe you can get away with buying hose by the foot for several of them where you don't have those difficult issues.

Just inspect the hoses. They may be in decent shape and not require replacing.

I went ahead and ordered the hoses. I hate pulling hoses off and they break, and have to order them - then wait...

OK two questions...

1) How tight do I tighten the 5 bolts for the top Plenum?

2) How tight do I tighten the EGR valve bolts?

1. 16 lb-ft. Start from the middle, then work out.
2. Also 16 lb-ft.
