p2646 after new solenoid honda/acccord/2007/2.4L
Hi
Car: Honda accord 2007 2.4 L 4-cylinder 162k miles
I have a p2646 still popping up despite I :
When the engine is cold, on neutral, i can go over 3000rpm However after a drive, on neutral, the engine stalls at ~3000rpm
What else should I check from there ?
Thanks

- Replaced Solenoid assembly
- Replaced Engine Oil (from conv to synth)
- Replaced Engine Oil Filter
- Cleared the code

The problem can be electrical or low oil pressure to that switch. Do you have any other codes?
Did you use an aftermarket or Honda pressure switch?
If the electrical connector is easy to access, unplug the connector, use a volt meter to test each wire. One wire should have voltage (5 or 12V) using a good ground with the black wire on your meter with the key in the II position.
What kind of code reader are you using? The honda shop manual has several steps where you test using the scanner, so it makes DIY stuff tricky.

I am having the same issue with my 2007 Accord EXL 2.4L. I have replaced the Spool Valve Assembly with a new one from Honda. I have replaced the VTC Filter Screen on the front of the cylinder head with a new Honda Filter Screen. Both the Spool Valve Screen and the VTC Screen (front) were clogged pretty good. I also removed and cleaned the screen filters on the VTC Oil Control Assembly Spool (there are three small screen filters on it but only one was clogged). I tested the VTC Oil Control Assembly Spool outside the car with a 12 volt source and it functions properly. Drained all the oil and refilled with Mobil 1 High Mileage 5W-20 and installed new Fram PH7317 Oil Filter. Drove 5 minutes and CEL came back on with DTC P2646 and engine started lurching again.

Also I would avoid to use fram oil filter, there are junks.
Good luck

May I ask what Oil Filter you are using please?

Before you do I would run some sea foam in the engine oil then change to full synthetic. At 160k you shouldn't have any sludge. My car at 202k is clean but I've ran full synthetic since the break in with Honda filters
