Default Performance chips

I've seen some performance chips online that promise to add like 15-20 hp with no tools required. They cost about 20-40 bucks. I don't think this sounds legit. Any ideas?

Sometimes it's a simple resistor to fool the engine temperature sensor. ECU thinks its cold, gives richer mixture. NOT good...

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably IS.

^ agreed. Even the expensive ones such as the Venom400 apparently merely trick your car into thinking it is running at Wide Open Throttle all the time. Not good in my opinion.
