Looks like motor oil to me. Any chance oil is dripping this connector?

good luck

Its the connectors on the right of the shock tower on the left, the bottom one of the 3. When I get home, ill post a better pic.

I also thought that, but if it was indeed dielectric grease, if it cools down, shouldn't it return to normal?

I wiped it with my finger and i can't tell the difference, looks and feels like motor oil.

its the bottom connector, only this one has it. i dont know where i put my ohm meter so i towed her to my uncles (ASE Certified for electrical) garage to have the whole harness checked out and it did indeed confirm my suspisions, the harness is OEM SOHC NON VTEC ODB1 (f22b2 harness) where as my motor is an f22b1 vtec.

he checked the harness to see if it was properly wired for vtec and crankshaft sensor, perfect, everything is wired correctly on the molested b2 harness.

we are both stumped. my OEM b1 dizzy will be here on monday so i wont know if thats the problem till then.

I note you don't have an exhaust manifold heat shield. This will contribute significantly to underhood heating. Might not be the cause, but possible IMO. Also the extra heat will degrade alternator, AC hoses, upper radiator hose. It's there for a reason.

good luck

i thought that as well. when i bought the car, the heat shield was missing, headers are cracked near the o2 sensor, the alternator was dead also, spark plugs for cylinder 1 and 4 were bad also, i replaced everything including
the IACV and gasket for the vtec. alot has ben replaced and it was all done properly. maybe i missed something.

i am still waiting on the dizzy from honda specialists. hoping that this will solve my problem.

You might have your uncle trace and ohm out the wires on that connector, especially the ones with the pins that look like they burned inside the connector, the ones surrounded by black residue. One of those pins got so hot that it looks like it started melting the plastic. Too much current going through one or more of them.

Just me but that looks like oil in the connector, in one of the pics you can see it "pooling up" in the corner. I'd clean that out and add the proper grease.

Roader, just me but that looks more like a mark from the factory....black marker across the plug.

Since it's got a B2 harness, whoever swapped in the B1 engine had to wire up the VTEC pressure switch & solenoid at the least (assuming VTEC works) and modify the harness to use the B1's internal coil dizzy.

To me it looks like the center rightmost pin on the connector close up pic got too hot. I think that pin is for a BRN/BLK wire between the ECU and the CKP sensor, but it's ultimately grounded via G101 which is bolted to the intake manifold. If G101 isn't clean and tight, it could cause the dizzy or ECU to look for a ground elsewhere, overloading that small gauge wire going though the connector.

So I dropped her off at the mechanic last week and just seen her
The ECM is blown........THATS A HARD THING TO DO, THEY USUALLY OUTLAST THE WHOLE CAR!!! FML.
So I had the ECM replaced along with a skunk2 throttle body. I'm gonna stick around for the first crank to see how it goes. Will report back with the results.
