Default Please Help Identify This Switch

(I had this in the wrong place in the forum, copied and pasted here)

Hello folks,

My name is Pete I'm new to the forum. I have a head scratcher that even my local Honda dealer couldn't help me with. I have a 98 accord with a Vtec 4 cylinder and a 4 speed trans. It's throwing a code that all the sources I've checked say is the "2nd clutch pressure switch" gone bad. I just want to replace the switch. Here is a picture that shows the switch I pulled out:

https://goo.gl/images/0YGwcG

But my switch isn't green, it's grey like this:

http://www.kingomatic.com/King-O-Mat..._Solenoids.pdf

(Look all the way to the last page and see number D90411c.)

So I'm confused. My dealer says I need the green one, but that won't plug into my harness. Do I just need to get the black / grey one and forget about what the dealer says? By the way the code was P1738. Thanks much!

Just to add a bit of clarity:
I removed the switch from this area of the engine

https://www.dropbox.com/s/dlw79jbgxy...81%29.JPG?dl=0

The arrow points to where it came from. You can't actually see from the picture because that solenoid thing is in the way, but it's near the top of the engine, easily accessible from under the hood. Also, I circled the green connector that was on it. Note that the connector is a 2 pin, and it's kind of round-ish, versus the other which is a single pin and is somewhat squared off. More clarity on the way:

Here's a pic of what I pulled out (on the left) and what the dealer says goes in there (on the right)

And here is the core of my issue. Here are the same switches, the one I pulled out (on the left) and the one the dealer says I need (on the right). The pic is kind of dark but you can clearly see that the shape of the connectors is completely different.

So, if anyone has any ideas, I would be very grateful. The dealer suggested I had a trans swap, that the trans is not the right one that needs to be in there. I don't know enough about them to argue, but it sure doesn't look like someone cut up the wiring harness. Anyway, thanks for your help!

what are the numbers stamped on the engine block and the transmission? They should be near the front motor mount.

While looking into this....it looked like the one that cam out of the car has two "pins" - if so what are the wire colors of those two wires.....they should be a color with a "stripe" - so a Blue/Black wire would be a Blue wire with a Black stripe.

I'll look for them on Monday. The last time I tried to read the trans number it was buried behind something I couldn't easily move.

I'll check that too, thanks!

The 2nd Clutch Pressure Switch for a 99 4 cylinder is the green switch the dealer says it should be.

The one wire (Blu/Blk) for the 2nd Clutch Pressure Switch should have a black connector.

You may have removed the VTEC oil pressure switch, which is above the 2nd clutch pressure switch.

Redbull, you may be on to something there. It looks like that's exactly what I did. I'll know more tomorrow. I don't remember there being another switch below the one I pulled out though. Here's a closeup of where I pulled it from. It sure looks to me to not even be a part of the trans, it looks more like it's going into the cylinder head.

Here's a few closeups of the plug in the wiring harness.

And the wires:

The wires are black / blue and black / brown

The engine has F23A1 stamped on it fairly prominently near the RH front engine mount. Somewhat smaller and nearby is the number 1131847, and some other even smaller numbers that look like casting numbers to me, so I'll leave those out.

The trans is a BAXA-6003061

I'll look more closely at it tomorrow and let you know what I find. You guys have been a great help, thank you all!

YES! I did indeed have the wrong sensor! I didn't see the right sensor because the wire had broken off (thus the code) and it didn't look like a sensor. But sure enough, it was. You guys were a big help. Thank you to poorman and pahonda, big props to redbull! Thank you thank you thank you!
