Thumbs down Poor gas mileage- 06 Accord EX-v6/auto

Phila PA burbs- 2006 V6 accord EX sdn, auto trans, no problems until about 60K miles.... So for the past year I've been getting about 17-20 mpg on average-- driving a mix of about 30% city and 70% highway. Best mileage was all highway at 29mpg. Worst city mpg was 13!! The car also has lost power, and seems to typically shift gears at 2.5-3.0K where before it seemed to do it at around 2.0K. No check engine lights whatsoever.

Solutions tried:
- changed trans fluid and air filter
- oil changed at reg intervals
- tire are relatively new and are filled about once a month
- switched to top tier gas for about 8+ tanks fills (use 89 octane)
- Oddly enough, the car seems to perform "better" after a significant warm up.

Its really starting to **** me off as I used to get 300-325 on a full tank vs. now at about 250-275 at best! Overall feels like a 10yr old car instead of a 6yr old.

The dealership has been no help and says it's bad gas on east coast. No codes were found in diagnostic checks. Apparently, they are computer technicians not mechanics.

Have ready many posts--- Does anyone have a solution that has worked??
THANKS!!

Look in the owner's manual to see what mileage is recommended to change your spark plugs.

You may want to inspect the brake rotors for signs of wear. Your brake pads could be dragging. Stuck caliper pins could be a possibility.

Have you done any modifications to your car? Did this problem start right after any work was done on the car?

Spark plugs are OEM... couldn't find any info in manual on plug replacement. However, wouldnt I get an indicator light for a bad plug?

Recently replaced rear brakes (2nd time since purchase), but I have noticed the e-brake has lost a bit of hold. Will check front breaks as they are starting to feel worn anyway. This would be my second pair of front brakes so maybe there's something there.

No modifications done to car and I cant quite pinpoint when this problem started, though I believe it was approx last winter.

What do you use to grease the slide pins on the caliper?

my 09 Accord EX 2.4 with 35K gets an average of 24MPG. around town i get 20mpg.
my mileage is due to a heavy right foot.
also the gas we buy these days has a ton of ethanol in it, it burns fast, mileage suffers.
the honda V6 is good for 20 mpg.
i doubt ill ever get 30mpg out of my 2.4

I don't buy it-- the owners manual states it works with ethanol and there's 6yr old V6's out there getting better mpg.

Default MPG problem

Had similar problem with 2000 Mercury VILLAGER. Lost of mpg and acceleration. Turned out to be a clogged/bad catalytic converter.

It looks like I am at the bottom of this line...as I get very less mileage on my 2008 2.4 LX-P.

Currently I am getting 4 Km/liter

It means something seriously wrong with the car....what can I do to fix it..I just gave my car for schedule maintenance work..
