Portable GPS in 96 Honda Accord???
So I have a 1996 Honda Accord LX, 4 door, 4cyl. It has a regular Cigarette lighter BUT it doesnt work. I've been wanting to figure out how to fix the Cigarette lighter outlet so it will charge my GPS or convert the cigarette lighter to a connector that will charge my GPS. I say that because Im not sure if the stock output will work with a gps or if I have to install a converter so it WILL work. Any ideas guys? And if its not possible, then how do I fix the Cigarette lighter so it will work? Thanks

You need a volt meter. You will have to remove the center console, then remove the radio bezel. Unplug the connector going to the lighter. See if the wht/red wire has 12V to ground with the key in the II position.
In the common DIY thread on top of the gen tech help forum, there is a link to online shop manuals. The hondatech link has a 94 shop manual you can download to see how to remove that console and bezel.

Look at that shop manual for the 10A fuse #11 for the lighter. It is under the driver's dash.
If no voltage on that wire, then the next step is to test the lighter relay. If you find a similar relay, you can switch them out to see if the lighter will work.
If you have voltage, you need to test that the black wire has zero resistance to body ground.
