Default Possible transmission caused shaking?

I have an 2007 Accord V6 SE, with 78k miles on it.

Recently the car started to shaking/shudder intermittently at low speed, mainly between 25 to 35 mph in the front end. The shaking last a few seconds and then goes away.

It's hard to isolate the source. However, I checked the axle, CV joints, engine mounts, tires and balance they are all in good condition. Now I suspect if it's the transmission's problem.

I think Honda issued a service bulletin for accords, civics and acruas a few years back regarding transmission and shaking. I'm having hard time finding it so if anyone have that TSB please send it to me I would be appreciated.

Your symptoms are most frequently associated w/ CV axles. I had this on several "rebuilt" CV axles from AZ and only fixed after replacing w/ higher quality axles.

Motor mounts tend to cause idle vibration problems.

Not familiar w/ TSB's on this issue, but hopefully others will be.

I have seen on several occasions (but not always) that the root of the cause to the symptoms the way you describe and on your generation it being a bad hydraulic motor mount, usually the upper one near the cam pulleys. You can place a block on wood on a floor Jack, put it under the oil pan, gently lift the engine and remove the upper motor mount to check it. Be ware on the hydraulic styles, unless they are visibly leaking oil they almost always appear fine, it is the play in it that you should be looking for. Sometimes you can see it if you have someone idling the engine at various speeds and simply watching the deflection on it, but be ware of all mounts as a potential source. Call your Honda dealer just to see if they stock it. If they do, then it being a weird part for them to carry overhead on they must be having problems with them, albeit it may not be your problem. Check it out, good luck.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the hydraulic motor mounts were used only on the 4-Cylinder engines. Yes, no?

You mean vacuum-operated mounts?
Parts drawings show vacuum-operated mounts on 2007 SE V6.
I think it's earlier generations where they were only used on 4-cyl auto-trans cars.

Do you feel the shake in the steering wheel at all, complete car? Did you have the tires road force balanced? Axles generally are only felt under heavier acceleration. But any loose steering/suspension component can cause a shake. A engine/Trans vibration can feel like a shake, so you need to figure out what location it's coming from. For Trans, one thing that may feel that way is the torque converter slipping going into lock up. But a engine misfire can also feel the same. Have you looked to see if it has any codes pending?

Default 2004 Accord 4-cyl with shudder

I did a search and read a bit on similar symptoms. Unfortunately, it added to some confusion. Like the OP, I can feel/experience the shudder at low speed and RPMs. I have been taking note and it seems to occur under 40 mph and only when the RPMs are about 1900 or so. And as with others in other threads, it seems to only happen at start-up; once warmed up, I don't USUALLY experience another event. That said, I did notice this occurring as I basically coasted down hill. Overall, the feeling is a bit like hitting the rumble strip on the edge of a highway.

Before reading, I considered whether it might be time to change out the auto tranny fluid. I'm about 145K and I've did the change back at the recommended interval...whatever that was. I don't drive her as much these days so I've lost some details in the records or what the recommended maintenance is. Otherwise, this car still impresses me! Rides smooth...great on fuel...and still very comfortable. I'd like to resolve this as I plan to keep driving her. A very dependable car.

Try rotating your tires. It will not fix the problem but may give you a hint. Its free too..

Hi moey - thanks for responding. Recent tires and alignment but shudder was ther before and after. As a note the Honda tech suggested new ball joints. But that surprised me: no pulling either way and old tires showed no odd wear. I didn't jack the car up though to check myself but perhaps I should.

Bumping the thread...

My wife drove the car today and she felt the shudder. She also says there seems to be a clicking, but she can't really describe it to me. Not much help there. I did drive it over the weekend and aside from the cold start shudders, it drove well as usual. Any other thoughts out there?
