Default Power Steering screaming when cold. 2004 Accord

We just got rid of our Dodge Minivan that was falling apart at 89K. We traded it in for a clean 2004 80K mile Accord. The Accord is a V6. The power steering whines pretty good when cold, not too bad when it's warm. Barely any noise at all when warm. When I say cold, like 25-35 degrees. It appears the pump is easy to get to. I am mechanically inclined and do a lot of my own work. Are PS pumps on these cars prone to go out at 80k ish? Or is this common for these pumps to whine.?

I would see if the belt is slipping before trying to replace the P.S. pump. Also check the belt for cracks and damage.

Check to see if your accord is auto-tensioned. My 95 is not, so I can tighten my P.S. belt. I am not sure if the 04 accords are set up like this.

Simple. Change the o-ring. This has been covered here.

I've got the same problem but I have a 2000 with the 4 cyl V-tec and with one additional concern... In addition to the screaming/whining noise, the steering wheel is a little hard to turn and does not feel smooth. It sorta feels a little jerky. Once I drive the care for a while and it's fully warmed up, there's no problems at all. Could this be the same issue?

Edit: I just had the hood open while turning the wheel and one of the belts is slipping and creating that noise. I noticed a few bubbles (not a lot by any means) in the fluid reservoir while the vehicle was on, but they disappeared once I turned the car off.

Default O-Ring

I had the same whining in '04 v6. Changed the o-ring and wala. Noise gone. This forum saved me over $200 bucks. Thanks to everyone. Awesome forum.
