Default Power Window Rip Off

The drivers window was stuck down. We took the car to a window repair shop and they replaced the switch. It worked for a while and then stopped. We brought it back and now they say it is the regulator. How difficult is it to replace the regulator? I think they are ripping us off. They want another 190- to replace the regulator. It is my son's car and I hate to see him getting robbed.

Thanks for your help.

to replace regul you got to remove the door panel, remove the bolts that hold window to regulator, raise window up and tape it up so it wont come down, disconnect plug to motor, remove all the bolts (10mm ) that hold the regulator and motor in place , ,, reverse order to install. lube the window tracks when you put it all back together , it will make the window go up and down a lot smoother

Yep, you are paying maybe not a rip-off price, but more than you need to pay if you do it yourself. I too had to replace the regulator on my '91 Accord. When I saw the dealer price of almost $400.-- I knew there had to be a better way. I found a peddler on eBay who sent me an aftermarket regulator complete with motor for about $40.-- at my door. When I compared the two (my original and the aftermaket) I could find no distinguishing differences safe for the partnumber. It took my son and I about 45 min to do the swap.
