Default Problem with programming keyless remote.....

I purchased one for my gfs 2001 accord. I followed the directions, but it doesn't seem to work. Turn key to on hit the lock button turn key off, do this step 3 times, then on the forth the locks should cycle. Is it possible her car never had keyless entry to begin with? Or did they all come with keyless entry? What other problem could be causing it not to be programmed. From reading other posts I read that if the radio is changed this could cause it. The radio is stock, so that shouldn't affect it. Thanks for anyone's help.

Are you doing ALL the steps? Are you doing them within 5 seconds of each other?

I've done this on a 98 Accord and on a 2003 Accord. But I've always had ONE working remote to start with. Maybe this procedure only applies when you have one to start with and you're adding more?

1) Unlock Doors
2) Turn ignition key to "ON" position (II)
3) Press the "LOCK" or "UNLOCK" button on the remote
4) Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position (0, I)
5) Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position
6) Press lock or unlock
7) Turn key to off position
8) on position
9) lock or unlock
10) off position
11) on position
12)lock or unlock - doors should cycle to indicate successful programming. If you only have one remote, turn ignition to off or don't touch anything. if you have 2+ remotes, go to 13:
13) lock on each transmitter that you need to program

*Steps 2-12 must be performed within 5 seconds of each other. Step 13 can be performed within 10 seconds of step 12.

Yeah, I even talked to the technician and he said the same thing to do. I did it slower and faster and nada. Is it possible her car doesn't have keyless entry? He said I don't need an origal remote.

I had a 98 EX & 03 LX which both had factory remote. That's the cars I did this with.

If your 01 is a DX or LX, then I don't know whether it had remotes to begin with.

If your car responds to programming instructions but the remote does not respond, it is most likely one of the following reasons
1. The battery may be dead.
2. Try the instructions again - sometimes it takes more then one try
3. If it still does not work, the remote might be broken or you have a wrong remote.
If your car DOES NOT respond to programming
1. It may not be equipped with keyless entry system - please check with your local dealer
2. There might be a problem with your RKE module please check with your local dealer
3. You may have the wrong set of programming instructions please check with your local dealer
