Default Problem with Viper Alarm system

Hi Everyone,
I have a 97 honda accord I bought used about 2 years ago on the other side of the country from a mom and pop lot. I can't really go to the dealer for advice on this one.

Both the remotes for my stock Viper alarm system have been trouble setting the alarm. Over time I would have to press the button more and more to get the car to chirp. Now I just can't get it to chirp at all. It's a very basic alarm, RPN 473V

I took the battery out of one remote and tested in. There was still plenty of juice. I put in a new battery just in case. I also inspected the hardware and there didn't appear to be any difficulty with making contact.

On Viper's website it says "Every Viper system is covered by a limited lifetime warranty when installed by an authorized Directed retailer. Please read the detailed warranty in your Owners Guide." There's no info in the car manual about the Viper system that I can find.

Would I be covered? Has anyone had this problem? Should I shell out $70 for a new remote or does the problem lie within the car?
Thanks.

Check ebay for used remotes at better prices. Search "viper remote 473v".

good luck
