Radio Randomly Shuts off

hey i have little car experience but heres my problem. i start my 96 accord and the radio sometimes turns on and sometimes doesnt then it will randomly turn off while im driving.its not only the radio the tape player does the same thing. The lights do not go off its only the sound that stops working. Sometimes it wil fade away with static. the little st light flasheswhen its not working. do i need to replace the whole radio? or check the fuses? if so does anyone know any basic sites i can learn how to do this on?

Sounds like a loose wire connection somewhere. If all speakers fade, then it is most likely in the back of the deck. Pull your deck out, and double check the connection, make sure it is plugged in all the way.

Also could be internal.....is it a stock radio?

Yeah....Deck is the the radio assembly, what ever is in your center console.....

Cheapest fix is a used replacement part. Check car-part.com.
