Default Rear Oxygen Sensor

Hello All,
First timer here. I purchased a 1997 Accord 4cyl. auto for my son and the flex tube deleloped a leak. I took it to a local shop and they repaired the exhaust but now my check engine light is on. They put it on the reader (for free) and it came up the rear oxygen sensor. the sensor is $300.00 from Honda but I found several on Amazon for much cheaper. Can anyone advise me on which one I should buy or do I have to get the factory sensor. I saw some for as little as $30.00. The shop said they would get me a sensor at their cost $243.00 or install one I get for free since I believe they might have damaged the original fixing the exhaust. Thank for any and all help. BTW I drive a 2007 Accord V6!

Some of the cheapies are just the sensor only. You have to splice wires & use your old plug. Be sure you know what you're buying. Direct fit aftermarket - I think that means you get the proper-length wires & proper plug.

Denso makes the sensors for Honda, so a Denso sensor from Autozone or someplace like that can be a lot cheaper than the dealer.

Default Quick Question

Could this sensor have been damaged during the exhaust repair? They did apply heat to the bolts that connect a pipe to the catalytic converter. Also do they remove the sensor during repairs if the sensor might be close to where they are applying heat?

If they applied heat during the repair, then they might have been careless, or they might have protected the sensor, or they might have removed the sensor. Don't know how to tell which.

That is, unless there's something obvious like burn marks & broken wires.
