Default RE: replace alternator

You Don't replace the Alt on that year; you replace the brush pak in the Alt.
Honda P/N 31105-PZ1-003 about $20 at majestic
Remove the battery negative cable, then remove the alt belt and the top bolt from the Alt,[don't lose the spacer behind the slide bracket]
Then remove the battery cable and the other 10mm nut that holds the insulator on.
Then go underneath loosen the lower Alt pivot bolt, and swing the alt away from the engine.
Next unplug the harness and remove the 8mm nuts holding the cover on the back of the Alt.
You need a really good #2 phillips stubby to get the brush pak screws out. [Tight little suckers]
Then when installing the new brush pak use a feeler gauge to hold the brushes up in their holder as you slide the new part in above the armature.

If you are intent on removing the Alt from the car you'll need to drop the driver side axle loose from the hub, so you have room to get the Alt out.
