Replace oil pump chain/ balance shaft
In changing the oil pump chain/ balance shaft I have a question that I can't find on our site or the web. As I rotated the sprocket with the chain off do I need to check the oil pump timing and how to. The back of the balance shafts have a line that might mean something.

In the 08-10 shop manual, the chain from the crank to the oil pump does have timing marks on the oil pump sprocket. A new oil pump chain should have some different colored links or maybe marked links.
It doesn't make sense as to why the oil pump would require timing marks. Maybe to make sure the correct number of links between the crank and oil pump sprocket for tension purposes?
