Replacing Immobilizer - couple questions
I have a 2010 Accord LX-P. Car has 180k miles on it.
Started having to crank to 5-7 times before it will turn over.
Ended up taking it to the Honda dealership last week. They found “immobilizer unit is cutting in and out. Replace and reprogram keys.”
Good news is, I finally know the problem. Bad news is, the dealer said the part is backordered. Has been for a while and they don’t know when they will get one.
After researching it, I saw it’s pretty easy to replace. So, I went to the junkyard today and pulled one.
Question - do I need to have the replacement immobilizer programed?
In this video, the guy doesn’t appear to have needed to reprogram anything.

I switched out the parts tonight and I now have a constant green key light. I’m assuming that means it does need to be programmed but I was under the impression that the immobilizer just received the code from the transponder in the key.
Thanks!

I think older accords maybe through 07, the immobilizer was just an antenna and the programming was in just the PCM. A quick look at the 08-10 accord, the immobilizer part you replaced has a control unit that would require programming.
