Default Serious problem with the AC

Hi everybody...
since i was unsuccessful with searching my problem on the forums.... i will just lay it out

I own a 2004 4cyl accord that has 112k on it... two days ago my AC decided not to work at all...

well not exactly... it tries to turn on but cuts off after 5 sec leaving me without a hint of air blow... and this lone try happens one time after i start my car... no matter how much i try later on it simply wont even turn on

During those 5 sec, I can hear the compressor work for the duration and then refuse to work again along with everything in the AC...

i want to perform a basic check under the hood... but I have no idea what to look for because frankly I cant point out parts under it.... (its gonna be my lesson this afternoon)

I hope you will be able to lead me in understanding the problem before I take it to a mechanic who is inevitable in such situations.

Regards,
Abraham or ( BU50 )

Hmmmm ..... sounds like a control problem to me. It could be a bad fan motor .... dies, then the compressor cuts out on high head pressure, but I'd suspect controls first.
