Solenoid Valve

Hi

I have 2002 SE with 181K miles on it, had being going through transmission slip and ran scanner, I got P1259, P0780, P0700 codes. After doing a little google it was indicating towards shortened Solenoid Valve A replacements or Transmission filter replacements.

My question is
which Solenoid valve I should use to handle this situation? Also is it worth to try repairing transmission filter alone? has anyone gone through similar situation? Please advice. Thanks

Regards
Navee

I've moved this to General Tech - Please do not post questions in the DIY section, there is a sticky at the top of that section about this.

The 0780 is not a good sign = mechanical problem in the hydraulic system.

You can try changing the solenoids (A and B), I'd get them from a bone yard.

In the end, I'm going to guess the trans is toast. If you go for a rebuild be sure the shop upgrades the valve body - http://www.sonnax.com/system/pdfs/35...pdf?1320330979

Hi

Thank you so much for inputs. I called up mechanic and asking him to replace fluid and see if I can drive till I find a good replacement from mechanic or junkyard

Thanks for help

Some have driven for a long time (weeks, months, years) with the trans acting up. The fluid change might extend the period of time it lasts. Read the link I posted, there is a company that seems to have figured out "why" the trans in the 98-02 Accord (and a few other Honda's - Ody, ect) in this year range fail. Point being, a use one from a bone yard is prob going to be a crap shoot.

Also, sorry, for the 1259 - please check the oil level. If close to being due for a change.....change it. 90% of the time that code comes up when the oil level gets low.

Hi Poorman212,

Thank you so much for your response... sorry I was bit busy to respond as well try.

Yesterday I called up a mechanic and he helped me to drain entire oil from transmission and we filled it with castrol transmission fluid 2 bottles and 1 bottle of lucas transmission slipping fluid. Yesterday it drove nicely without any problems but today I'm back to square one.

I also observed now during my drive for lunch there was little noise in my engine. I'm going to run scanner once I go home today and call mechanic tomorrow to have it tested.

I am going to give one more try before I go to boneyard to get another transmission.

Any other suggestions or inputs to handle this situation?

I really like my car and started doing a bit of improvements to it after my purchase.

Regards
Navee

Again, please check the engine oil level to be sure it is ok......if you are close to change then I would go ahead and change it.

As far as the trans, well not much more I can think of.

Thanks

I have drained & filled engine oil 4 weeks ago with Jifflube, I took their signature services.

Infact all transmission problem started after doing a oil changes, initially had a D3 light blinking which changed after putting transmission into R and then D1, D2, D3, D4.

Yesterday mechanic coudlnt come, hope today he comes and resolves this issue. Though I took car in neighborhood with that noise.

Will update tomorrow. thanks for all help
