Hey folks, quick question...

Any of you guys w/ a 4th gen EX happen to recall what your speed is at 3k RPM in 5th gear (manual trans of course) My Speedo seems inaccurate to me. According to my speedometer, i'm doing ~80-81mph at 3k. Seems like i'm doing more in the 70 range... granted i just got this car and it could definately just be me, but just thought i'd throw the question out there.

Sounds about right. My 99 is dead on 3k @ 80mph, shouldn't be too much difference in the gearing.

Have a buddy drive next to you at 70 and see if it's off?

 

hmm... maybe it's the fact that the car i'm coming from is smaller that makes me feel like i'm going slower in this car... lol... and yeah, i was gonna have someone pace me sometime when i get a chance, just thought i'd toss the question out before i end up with a 80+ MPH ticket thinkin i'm doin 70, lol... thanks for the reply, i'll post up my results later when i get a chance to check it out for sure...

 

well i had a buddy pace me and sure enough, dead on 3k at 80, guess the new car just threw my speed judgement off a little bit, lol

 

In the future, I would borrow someones GPS and check it that way.... A little bit easier than having someone pace you.

 

At 3000 RPMs my carbureted 88 Accord is on 80 MPH. You should be fine!
