Yes. Parts or components can even be swapped out instead of the whole cluster, to possibly even retain the original odometer.

For the speedo, you can just swap the printed circuit board in back and retain the original odometer reading. See thread: Speedo PCB

Well, in that case, you could also change (roll-back) the original one too. Of course, I don't condone that. Those mechanical odometers aren't really tamper-proof.

well i am as you can guess having the classic speedo issues...changed vss and speedo works only occasionally at best. Funny part is that when the speedo works so does check engine light and cruise...but when speedo not working , check engine light and cruise do not work. I was not aware that i could change out just the board though. Is this that much harder to do than just changing the clusters out. I would like to retain original mile reading since car is in Virginia and has to be inspected annually

You still have to remove the cluster. But, it is only a couple more minutes to swap the circuit board. That way, you retain the original odometer.

So I have my speedo cluster...cracked it open ..very easy. I am flying to virginia this weekend, where my cousins accord resides. My question is should i bother taking entire cluster with me? Is there any chance that the master board on back of entire cluster is causing these speedo /cruise control issue or is it def the small local board on back of speedo itself. Only asking because i will have to check bag if i carry whole cluster ...wont have to if i just take little board from speedo
