Default Speedometer is off!

OK it's a 98 ex cupe, 4cyl, auto.

It speedometer is off almost 5 mph exactly, It needed tires in the front so I didn't really think about it much. Now it's got new Skins up front that are correct for the car, 195-65-15 and I'm still 5 MPH off. I'm using my GPS and the traffic flow to verify my speed. Yep Sure enough I'm Slow.

I thought that maybe it was VSS but everything seems to be working. No problems with Cruise just a little slow on the needle. If I want to run 65 mph I have to set the cruise at 70 to maintain 65. Same with 55 have to set the cruise on 60. Is there any calibration for the speedometer?

AS the fastest driver between the girlfriend and I it really doesn't affect her. She would happily poke along at 50 mph and never think twice. Me I know it's slow and can adjust accordingly, however if there is a fix for it. I would prefer to fix it. I've already settled on the fact that I'm not going to get CEL (P0420) to go away. So I'm living with that. I would like to get the Speedometer fixed. Any thoughts or ideas on the subject would be fantastic.. Thanks!

Ok I'll add this, only because as an after thought It my be important. It seems to be less noticeable at the slower speeds. It's really noticeable between 50-70 which are normal driving speeds in these parts. The amount off at lower speeds seems less, of course haven't checked as I traverse these speeds getting to normal driving speeds.

Dang! I actually would have expected some one to comment or offer something. Guess this is the only Accord to have a Speedometer problem. Who would have thought!

You may be able to have the speedometer calibrated by sending it to a speedometer repair shop.

I don't think that a honda dealership would calibrate the speedometer.
