I have a 90 honda accord ex and my sport shift light keeps coming on and only shifting to 1st and 2nd gear. I am stumped. I have taken the shifter apart and found nothing. Please help.[:@]

 

you need to jump the connector and count the flashes on the instr cluster ,, depending on the code than we can diagnose your problem

the conector is located under the dash rt side , below glove box, by the kick panel it is blue and has 2 wires going to it,,,,,,,use a paper clip, jump the 2 wirews together, turn the key on, do not start the car ,, and count the flashes,,,,,,

a long flash = 10
a short flash = 1

make sure to do it a few times just in case there is more than 1 code ,, and to make sure you are reading it correctly ..anyho once you get the code post it here,,,

 

I have the same exact problem. My sport shift light (it's green) goes on and won't shift out of 2nd gear. When this started happening, the light would come on and it would remain stuck in 1st or 2nd, then eventually it would kick into 3rd and 4th, but over the last few days it will not come out of 2nd.

I will try to jump the connector, count the flashes and report back here looking for further advice.

I think I jumped the connector and counted all the flashes in the right manner, and the number adds up to 14. Can you tell me what 14 means?
