squeek problem
on my 89 accord when i am going down the road from the left front of the car there is a sqeek that increases with speed. if i push the clutch it still squeeks so that tells me its not the engine. wheel bearing? or something else. does it when i am going straight down the road and starts at about 10mph and gets faster as i speed up. any ideas would be nice.
no i havent checked the pads but it needs new brakes. to me it doesnt sound like that though(have heard it before) i may yank the wheel off tomorrow if its nice outside and see what i can find.
yea i would definatley check the pads out first too because they are the cheapest thing to do. even if the rotor isnt hitting the squeaker..some pads are just ****ty and squeak all the time. if it needs new brakes, that is the most probable cause though.
it could be a wheel bearing, when they go out.....a loud sound is also usually accompanied by some pretty serious vibrations too

well after about 45mph it does some shimmying....the vibration goes from the tires to the steering wheel then back to the wheels ect...when its the steering wheel shaking the tires dont feel like they are shaking...when the tires shake the steering wheel doesnt.
it could be the bearing then....are you good at working on cars. its not real hard but does take some blood and a few special tools, and a machine shop to do. raybestos makes some 30 dollar pads that are real good and they make no noise at all.
yeah my best friend is lead tech at firestone for the last 5 years and my dad was a mechanic for 20 years and my grandpa was a mechanic for 30 years....i know how to work on cars
i have never worked on a honda but i am sure it cant be too difficult. i am just wondering how much i am gonna end up spending on a 250 dollar car.

Another check for the wheel bearing is to turn the wheel while going down the road, doing this takes the load off one side. In my last car the bearings were bad in the rear and when I turned slightly the noise would go away. Just a thought.
for the shaking problem,, i would chk all the frt suspension,,, lower and upper ball joints, inner and outer tie rods. ..... are tires ok?? have you had them balanced ??
i am gonna put it up in the air tomorrow and see what i can see. i am almost positive its a wheel bearing cause its getting louder and louder the more i drive. as for the shaking problem...the tires are most definatly at least part of that. they will be going soon.
