SRS light
 

My SRS light is on in my '97 Accord EX 4cyl Vtec

Any guesses as to what might cause it?
Do SRS lights have a code like the check enginge light does? If so how do I read it and find out what it means?

yes it has a code, I believe it will show the code by jumpering the blue connector just like you were reading the check engine code. Unless you have an OBD2 ECU (some 97's did I believe) then you can just run down to autozone and have them pull the code.

I ran to Checker during lunch. They have the ODB2 reader but they say it doesn't read the SRS codes and I need to go to the dealer for the SRS light. [sm=smiley6.gif]

Can I do the trick of jumping the blue clip under the glove box and counting the flashes when turn on the ignition? If so where can I find a list of what the codes mean?

if you have an OBD2 ECU then I don't think the jumper trick works

I think my car actaully has both. I know that you cant actaully jumper the OBD2 connector and it is behind the ashtray. It is the one I read all to often for engine codes.

In addition to the OBD2 connector behind the ashtray there is a couple of conectors unders the glove box. one is a blue conecter and is eaither 2,3 or 4 pin. The other is orange and is about 8 pin or so. I am failry certain I have jumpered those and cycled the ignition and counted the blinks on the dash in the past for something.
Is this making any sense or am I just up in the night?

I might be nuts but I've always assumed that obd2's didn't have the jumper plug, There should only be two wires going to it....

I ran out and took some pictures. Please excuse the messy car.

So if I jump the Blue connector shown will it by chance show the codes? If so where do I find a list of what they mean?

I'm just guessing but I looked at a few other threads, it appears that the blue plug does work for diagnostics as well.

btw you must be going crazy nasty. ALL U.S. cars 96+ have OBDII, its a law.

and yes, the blue plug does work for diagnostics, just jump it with a paperclip, turn the key to ON, and count the D4 flashes.

it's been a long day.... Just found out that Ultimate Warranty Co. is possibly going out of business... The place I work for used to sell their policies so I'm getting yelled at left and right even though I never sold them myself.
