Right, it shouldn't stay on during driving.

Read your warranty book & check with the dealer - it might just have a warranty "for the useful life of the vehicle".

Honda warranties the seat-belts for the useful life of the vehicle, so you would be covered if it was the belt.

The SRS light staying on means the SRS computer detected a problem and stored a code specific to the problem. You should get that code.

You can short a blue two-pin connector under the glove box and count the SRS light flashes when you turn the key to the II position. Use a thin paperclip or a piece of wire.

Follow the instructions in the link below up until the point where it tells you to count the check engine light. Also, your car will only have the two-pin connector under the glove box.

When you turn the key to the II position, the SRS light will turn on for 6 seconds, turn off for two, then start flashing the code(s). The long flash (2 sec) is the main code, and the short flash (0.3 sec) is the sub code. So a LLLS = code 3-1.

After the code(s) flash, the SRS light will either repeat the same sequence or the SRS light will stay turned on. Let us know the code(s) and if the light stayed on at the end, or kept repeating the code(s).

i also heard from a friend that sometimes mechanics trip the light by accident and that if you take off a battery erminal for 5 mins it resets the computer. i might try this first thing tomorrow morning.

I have my SRS light on and the battery thing does not work. I just haven't had time to check my system.

not exactly sure what unit, but my mechanic said it would cost somewhere between 800 and 900 dollars to replace.

'97 wagon SRS code 8-5. What is it?
Also noticed when I read the code my ABS light flashed 4 times, over and over.
thanks

EDIT
found some stuff with google advanced search-
8-5 must be SRS control unit, is that the thing under the drivers seat?
ABS code must be 4-4, RR wheel sensor
