Starts then shuts off >_<
I have a 1994 honda accord lx NOT A VETEC
I have replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, valve cover gasket, and the main relay.....
The car will start and stay on for about 2 seconds the cuts back off.... HELP PLEASE!!!!!! It happened suddenly one night when i was leaving work.... its never done this before and ever since it did it it wont come back on and stay on!!!! I can hear the fuel pump coming on...
Also before this happened, only when the car was running cold it would idle rough and sometimes when i gave it gas while driving it would act like i wasn't and i would let off the gas an out back on it an it would be fine....
I'm thinking maybe fuel pump? Due to maybe not enough pressure???

When car stops, do the Alt, Oil Pressure, and Check Engine lights come on or stay off?
Does stoppage ever prevent restart?
Is Check Engine Light on all the time? If yes, get codes from DIY forum instrction for obd1 code extraction.
good luck

I would suspect coil first, ignitor 2nd. Coil gets hot and develops an internal short that weakens spark enough to kill engine. A short time later enough cooldown has occurred to reclose the circuit and enable start. This will be very difficult to positively identify since it's intermittent.

Well, my theory is only that. Coil wires are fine and carry a decent current. A damaged section could heat up almost instantly.
It could be something else such as faulty Main Fuel Relay or faulty ECM.
Intermittent problems are very difficult to resolve since symptoms are present only for a short time and leave few/no clues behind.
