Sticky Brake Light

Sticky Brake Light
The dash light for my E-brake is a bit fussy. Sometimes it wants to be on, other times off. Anyone have any idea why? I've checked the brake fluid, its fine. Also seems, but not always, that when its cold outside, it tends to be on more often than when its hot.

On the Accord in this gen (98-02) the fluid level sensor in the brake master will get stuck. There is a TSB on this.
Do you have a volt meter to do some testing next time it acts up?
EDIT: Wrong- Got the 6th and 7th gen's mixed up - 6th gen's the float is part of the cap. The 7th gens have the float inside the res and not part of the cap.

You could also disconnect the wires at your brake-fluid reservoir. Not as a FIX, but for diagnosis.
If the lamp still is flaky, then you know it's not related to the brake-fluid level sensor.
The little button-switch under the handbrake lever is kinda simple. Maybe that's bent or something??

i think i'll try the disconneting the wires. (just to test) and i dont think its the hand lever because when its warm outside (and the light is off) i move the hand lever up and down slightly, the light will react as it should. (on or off depending on whether its up or down.

I found the TSB. Interesting information although paying monthly to view these are out of the question. I'll look at other sources for the information.
