stock radiator hose clamp or aftermarket

guys,

I had my radiator hoses replaced and the shop put on the screw type hose clamps. Is this ok or should I replace with Honda type clamps? I have heard that screw type can put too much pressure on the radiator neck and crack it.

I use the screw type. Just be careful about over tightening it. Better to have it slightly loose and it leaks a drop, then you know to tighten it just a bit more.

Spring-clamps (like stock) can keep it tight as the rubber extrudes out from under the clamp. That's good for people who never ever open their engine compartment.

Screw clamps have to be tightened occasionally, when you notice a couple drops of coolant, maybe every few years (maybe never).

Screw type is fine as long as you don't break your hand tightening them. If your concerned just back it off and re-tighten yourself then you know how much pressure is on it. As stated maybe even go a little loose and watch for drips then tighten accordingly if that puts your mind at rest.

Thanks for the input guys. Will keep an eye on them.

Yes, they should be fine. The spring loaded are better, especially in areas that get wide temperature variation. Rubber, steel, aluminum all expand and contract at different rates.
Thoughts- Many folks prefer screw type. The last large hose clamp I bought from Honda was like $13.50. Glad I only needed one (they rarely fail)
