Default Strange acceleration problem (98 4CYL ACC 275K+ )

I've been with this Accord for almost 10-years now. We have 275K miles together and 2 transmissions replaced. Anyways, lately it will not accelerate unless I let go of the accelerator and reapply. There doesn't seem to be any consistency, cold-hot, up-hill or flat.

For example:

Leaving my parking spot, I may accelerate to 20, but continue to press the accelerate, the engine revs, but there is no power, if I let go of the accelerator and reapply, the car goes as it should.

The recently had two engine codes, but relate to O2 sensor. Maybe replacing the O2 sensor can resolve this problem?

Thanks,

Me thinks Throttle Postion Sensor needs tested and or replaced...can be tested with an ohmeter after you take it out...

Usually at very low speeds, below 20MPH. Once the car is on the freeway I never have any problems.

Is this something that I could easily replaced? I'm at the level of being able to change my brake pads and oil. How much does this item usually run to replace by a shop and the part?

TechJohnny,

I has a problem that sounds similar to yours, my catalytic converter was coming apart internally. Might be worth a look to see if you have a regular exhaust flow.

As for the O2 sensor, never done one on a Honda, however it certainly looks simple to get to. I think you tackling it yourself would certainly be possible. I'm sure that you can find something on here if it's a very technical repair.

Good luck!
