Default Strange steering popping and creaking noises

First time poster, any help would be greatly appreciated!
I drive a 94 CD Accord, which has started developing a strange creaking and popping noise when steering.
A creaking noise has been with the car for the past 8 months, which only made noise when moving and was very similar to CV noise (so basically ignored it), though recently the same sound has started happening when the car is still (only turning the wheel) and as of today will creek and occasionally pop (popping noise is like a metallic clanging noise, a heavy spring being let go). When still the pop isn't so severe, though when moving and the steering has been popping and suddenly jolted (by speed bump etc) the pop can be quite severe (felt through the car).

Seems as if there's a pressure build up somewhere, have checked shocks, springs and CV's with no obvious sign of damage. Definitely coming from the front somewhere, seems to be left or right side of vehicle. Would appreciate any help (being a poor University student) and would love to sort this without paying tons for a shop to get it done!

Thanks in advance

When you say you checked the CV, how did you check them? Gotta jack the frontend up, and ideally take each tire off, take the CV nut off and really "unload" each CV. When there's weight on the joints they may be toast but because theres still load being applied to them they"ll seem good, learned that from owning 4x4"s with front halfshafts over the years!

Take a look at the sway bar bushings or shock absorbers
