stupid question

what is part 8 on this image. I am in the middle of doing an engine swap and the engine I got for a replacement had an automatic transmission and the old one had a standard so I threw the standard on it. The wiring harness from the automatic doesn't seem to have the plugs for it so I was wondering if it is important or not. Thanks

i couldn't find a honda parts break down listing. i just kinda stumbled across that image while searching for an answer. if it's the reverse switch then I am gonna say it is probably important. I kept the wiring harness off of the standard so I can switch then but I kinda wanted to be lazy.

thanks the car is a 90 accord lx. the part according to where you told me to go to is SWITCH ASSY., BACK-UP LIGHT (TEC). thanks for the help now i know how to use the site better. doesn't seem necessary to see if the car will work or not but will be needed for inspection. sorry for the stupid question but this is my first honda and also the first time i did an engine and tranny swap by myself. thanks again
Seems like the old one would be OK if its not broken. If you swap manual vs automatic, then the switches probably won't fit each other. The corresponding switch on the auto is probably not located in the same place on the tranny.
So the wire harness is from the automatic? and you put in the 5SPD?
the harness you unplugged at the center console shifter will have the wires for the reverse switch.
You can find the ETM and download the manual, then you'll also be able to hook up the clutch saftey switch

So Houmic, what exactly did you swap?
Your car originally came with a 5-speed?
You got an engine swap, but that engine had an automatic attached?
So you used your original 5-speed with the new engine?
If so, all you need is to cannibalize your old engine for whatever wiring you need.
BTW, you should have discovered that the bolts for attaching the flywheel to the crankshaft are different. You have to use the ones from your original engine/5-spd.

thats exactly right, well i switched wiring harnesses and threw the engine in and the car runs. i already gutted the other engine before i junked it. most of the parts looked better on the blown engine then what was on the replacement engine. thanks for all the help from everyone.
