Default Temp control backlight etc 99 Coupe

Hi all

Am in the process of renewing some of the bulbs behind the main centre console.

headlamp washer button bulb = tested dead - simply need to replace

Clock bulb = tested dead - simply need to replace

One of the bulbs behind the temp control on left = When you tap it, it works! Have cleaned contact area with very fine sandpaper, still hasnt fixed it permanently -will replace bulb and give another clean

However, one that is bugging me is the temp display= give it a gentle tap in the middle, and the light springs to life. (the display is always there, just no green light) There doesnt appear to be any bulb powering this, seems to be a sealed unit.

Have cleaned BOTH connector plugs set of pins that come from the wiring loom. Any ideas?

An edit to this, there IS a bulb powering the temp display. Its got a grey base rather than a white one. Have given the contacts a thorough clean. A gentle tap on the base with a screwdriver and the bulb comes on. Strange, I thought bulbs either worked or didnt work!

Occasionally a bulb filament will have a gap such that when cold it will make contact. Turn it on and as it warms it separates and goes off. Or, it may come on when tapped and stay on till it's turned off.

good luck

Thanks mate.

Will replace them all and see how it goes. Probably a good idea to do the whole panel if I'm going to be taking the back off again!
