Question Are there any issues swapping a Japanese transmission?

Hi, first of all I have a 1997 Honda Accord SE with 180-190k miles on it. The transmission failed on me, and I took it out. Before purchasing another unit I need to know if there are any concerns if I purchase a low-mileage japanese transmission. Can I use a japanese transmission in my american car? Are there any swap issues I should be concerned with? Bolt pattern or electronic issues? If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Well I assume your car is an automatic. It should work fine as long as you get one that is compatible with your engine. I would just be a little cautious as by "low miles" they actually mean "we have no idea how many miles are on it".

Probably cheaper and have better luck grabbing one at a junk yard. As long as it's a Honda tranny and was in a car with an H- or F- series engine, it will bolt up fine.

EDIT: You will also need the TCU for the tranny, or the whole ECU/TCU combo.
