Default Timing Belt - Waterpump issue.

99 EX V6

I just replace the timing belt, water pump, 2 other belts. (FYI ~$225 from Honda dealership, San Antonio, TX).

Now the car is overheating. I'm almost positive it's air in the coolant system but I can't seem to bleed it. I had heard of the bleeder valve, but I can't find it on this car. Does this model have it? Any ideas for bleeding the system.

Thanks.

I'm trying hard to have a good flashback, butI don't think yours has the bleed screw in the T-stat area. I think the radiator acts as the high point bleed.
Have you rechecked the coolant in the radiator? Jack up the car to have the radiator fill neck higher than the rest of the engine, then fill the radiator.
This problem just doesn't seem to make sense.

I took your advise but I took the easy route. I parked the car on an inclined road, opened the radiator cap, ran the engine, turned on the heater, and topped off the reservoir and radiator. That did the trick.

Thanks! Sorry if that was a stupid question, but I was freaking out. After spending all day swapping the parts I was hoping not to have to take it apart again.

Sorry, I guess that was kind of confusing. The parts cost $225. I did the work myself.
I wish that's all it cost, it would have saved me a lot of work.

Does anyone know what labor cost would be for a job like this?

it depends on the city and state you reside and the shop you go to,, but it should be around 4-5hrs in labor so depending on the hourly flat rate that would be the labor charge

that was really off the wall.. down here in South Carolina most shops charge anywhere from $400-$650 depending on where you go and how much they like doing the work.

Well, it usually takes me longer than the labor hours charged but it's much more gratifying to do it myself.
I'm assuming labor rates are around $90-100/hr.

I'll take my lessons learned since my 2002 Honda Odyssey is fast approaching 90K miles. I hope it's not too hard.
Lesson #1: Get a high flow air hose with a 3/4" impact gun and allow 15-20 minutes to loosen the 19mm balancer bolt! Holy poopy was that thing hard to get off!
