Trans fluid type?

I have a 1996 accord lx 2.2L non v-tech
Wondering what type of trans fluid it takes?
Also what's the correct way to check it? engine hot or cold?

Assuming your 1996 Accord has an automatic transmission, I believe the spec for ATF back then was Honda Z-1, however, Honda has superseded that ATF with a new spec called DW-1 which is backward compatible with Z-1.
